Colon & Rectal Surgery in Fresno

Central Valley Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates' mission is to provide personalized, high-quality surgical care.  We recognize that colon and rectal diseases are uniquely personal.  We strive to provide surgical expertise in order to provide successful outcomes, while maintaining privacy for our patients during these sensitive times.

We are a staff of colon and rectal surgical specialists with 60 years of combined experience and expertise.  We each hold two separate board certifications that are recognized by the American Board of Surgery.  We are board certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. Additional years of specialized training is required in order to become board certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery, which sets us apart from our General Surgery colleagues.

We specialize in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of the diseases related to the colon, rectum, and anal canal, with an emphasis in cancer treatment and prevention.

Over 60 Years Combined Experience

We provide a minimally invasive approach to the majority of the colon and rectal surgeries we perform.  Traditionally, "open" surgery for the colon and rectum has involved a large abdominal incision (breast bone to pubic bone) to allow direct manipulation of the organs with our hands.  With technological advances and additional specialty surgical training, we are now able to perform the same surgeries with incisions the size of a pencil.  This is referred to as "laparoscopic" or "robotic" surgery.

This has a great benefit to the recovery process of the patient, resulting in reduced post-operative pain, decreased risk of infections, minimal scar tissue formation, as well as the ability to return home and to work much sooner.   The average length of stay is 3 days for patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery, compared to 8 days for traditional "open" surgery.
